Our large choir is based in Wymondham, Norfolk and performs three major concerts each year. We welcome new singers and supporters.
The choir has been a regular feature of the musical scene in Wymondham, Norfolk, since it was formed in 1980 under the direction of Maxwell Betts. Subsequent Music Directors Keith Shaw, Peter Wills, Philip Luke and our current conductor Claire Dixon have each brought their own distinctive style to familiar, much loved choral works and have broadened the Society's repertoire through the introduction of new works, including some of their own compositions.
The Society attracts members from a wide area: from Norwich in the north to the Waveney Valley in the south and Watton to the west. We enjoy the pleasure of singing in a congenial atmosphere in some of the area's most beautiful churches. Concerts are performed to high musical standards with professional soloists and often with an orchestra. Our three major performances annually raise money for charity.
Each year the choir performs in Wymondham Abbey during the summer Festival. We also sing informally for local events.
Many of our members sang in the “Scratch “ concert of Mozart’s Requiem at the Albert Hall in London in May. We have also performed there in the Verdi and Brahms Requiem concerts. Overall, the Society’s repertoire is very varied.
We are always welcome new members and supporters.
